In our production, we use a wide range of high-quality materials that are carefully selected to achieve the best possible results for our watches. The primary materials include stainless steel, titanium, and bronze. All ARCHIMEDE cases are specifically designed and manufactured by us in Pforzheim.

Our specialized surface hardening process for stainless steel is characterized by the following properties:

  • Hardness of approx. 1200 HV
  • Thickness of the hardened layer: approx. 30 μm
  • The corrosion resistance of the stainless steel remains fully intact

After surface finishing, the case middle, top ring, and the corresponding stainless steel bracelets are hardened. By increasing the hardness to approximately 1200 HV, the watches gain an excellent protective shield against scratches and other surface damage.

Bronze is a highly durable material that has been used for centuries across many cultures, from sculptures to tools and coins. It represents durability, resilience, and longevity.

The ARCHIMEDE bronze cases, manufactured by ICKLER, use the bronze alloy CuSn8, consisting of 92% copper and 8% tin. The crown as well as the clasp and screws are also made of bronze. The fully threaded case back is crafted from 316L stainless steel. The case surface is left in its natural, untreated state and will develop the characteristic bronze “vintage” patina over time.

Titanium is known for its exceptional strength and durability combined with low density. It is often regarded as a symbol of physical and mental strength, resilience, and indestructibility. Due to its strength and corrosion resistance, titanium is frequently used in extreme environments, such as aerospace applications and medical implants.

Our ARCHIMEDE titanium cases stand out for their exceptional wearing comfort, light weight, high corrosion resistance, and robustness. All components of our cases, bracelets, and clasps are made of 100% titanium, making them ideal for people with sensitive skin or allergies. We exclusively use Grade 2 titanium, DIN 3.703.

DLC stands for diamond-like carbon. One of the key advantages of DLC coatings is their excellent skin compatibility, making them particularly suitable for people with allergies, as the coating contains no allergy-relevant metals. In addition, no environmentally harmful chemicals are used in the coating process, making the manufacturing method highly environmentally friendly.

DLC coatings are not only in high demand in the watch industry, but also wherever component surfaces are exposed to heavy wear. Along with their high scratch resistance and skin compatibility, DLC coatings also meet the highest aesthetic standards.

 

 

 

Anti-magnetic | Soft Iron Inner Case – Protection up to 80,000 A/m. 

We have equipped the OutDoor AntiMag with a soft iron inner case, providing protection against magnetic fields of up to 80,000 A/m / 1,000 gauss / 100 mT. Acting like a Faraday cage, this inner case—consisting of the dial, movement retaining ring, and case back—channels magnetic field lines around the movement, effectively shielding it from interference.
